Arrival in the beautiful town of Montepulciano and visit to the historic centre full of treasures of art, including one of the typical old wine cellars.

S. Biagio Montepulciano

Montepulciano, is built along a narrow limestone ridge and, at 605 m (1,950 ft) above sea level. The town is encircled by walls and fortifications designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder in 1511 for Cosimo I. Inside the walls the streets are crammed with Renaissance-style palazzi and churches, but the town is chiefly known for its good local Vino Nobile wines. a long, winding street called the Corso climbs up into the main square, which crowns the

THE MAIN SQUARE

Arrival in a typical wine farm of the area. Here the FRIENDLY owners, Patrizia and Dora, (two ladies that run the entire property by themselves!) will show you their vineyards and their wine cellar where they produce and age high quality wines (including the world famous “Nobile di Montepulciano”) with a great passion. They willexplain the interesting process of wine making.

In the farm they also produce extra virgin olive oil and they run free-range chickens, ducks and hens for fresh eggs.

01,30 p.m.
Private lunch in the farm, based on local products accompanied by important wines, such as “Rosso” and “Nobile di Montepulciano”.

03.30 p.m.
Visit to a traditional olive mill with explanation of the entire process of making extra virgin olive oil and oil tasting.

IMP: This visit can be substituted with the visit to Chiusi.

Chiusi was one of the most powerful cities in the Etruscan league, reaching the 7th and 6th centuries BC. There is a large number of Etruscan tombs in the surrounding countryside and a very important National Etruscan Museum.
