Let's go and visit another island.
Isola Maggiore is the second one in size among the three Trasimeno's islands. It keeps intact inside an ancient fishers'village (15th century), where today about 100 people live. This community is the oldest of the Trasimeno's area.
It is told that S.Francesco di Assisi used to spend 43 days there and built a chapel to rest and pray. Then in the island there are a (private) castle, a romanic church and another church where there are some 14th and 16th century frescoes.

The Museum of Lace must be asolutely visited. It was born to preserve both beautiful ancient laces and more modern objects. The Irish lace's working school has been founded in 1904 by countess Elena Guglielmi, owner of the Guglielmi's castle, aided by duchess Grazioli Lante della Rovere, Queen Elena's lady-in-waiting.
Let's seat and taste the typical Lake's meals at Sauro's and then, after lunch, once left the island, we get to Tuoro.
A young Tuoro's farmer, following the old tradition of the Lake's area, collected, in some premises of his property, several ancient (18th and 19th century) machineries used to produce wine and oil. These premises, which once were the oil mills of the town, include a beautiful garden, which overlooks the Trasimeno Lake, and where a nice snack based on "bruschette" and wine will be served.
Then we have a look at a small local rarity: a leaning tower.

The Venazzano tower is everything remains of a 13th century castle. It leans thanks to a strange attitude of the land and it surprises all the turists who suddenly look at it.
Finally, we can go to Pertignano sul Lago to visit a modern wine cellar owned by a young teacher of the faculty of agricolture. He leads this cellar with great entrepreneurial ability.
